An immersive and impressive experience. (A spoiler-free review)
Before I start, if you’re reading this and if you work with Marvel Studios, tell them to make a sequel please, don’t leave us in the dark due to that ending.
It definitely has to be one of the most beautiful Marvel films. I was worried due to the film receiving a low tomato score on RT but after watching this movie, I will never trust critics ever again. They review bombed this film just like they review bombed Man of Steel, which is a really great film IMO.
This film really deserves to be experienced on the big screen, it deserves your time and your money. Chloe Zhao nails her work again, no doubt about that. The cast is powerful, their performance is one of the most strong factors of the film. The plot is strong, it does its job and is pretty cool IMO. I really love how they explained the origin of Eternals and Deviants and the role of Celestials, also not to mention the 7000 years storyline is very beautifully compressed in a 2 hr 30 minutes movie, they really did a great job here mate! The visuals are so awesome, I just love those beautiful frames. The ending of the movie really tells us MCU is expanding, ALOT! Also those two credit scenes, UFF!
Overall: A great Marvel film and it should be appreciated and not hated, it doesn’t deserve the negativity, it’s awesome, show the movie some love!
My Rating: 4/5, coz I enjoyed the film and it kinda sets up a lot of stuff for the near future of MCU
Eternals is probably Marvel’s most gracefully nuanced film in my opinion and it’s sad that it’s being bashed due to the idea that because of its cast’s diversity and choice to represent different social groups that it must be bad. Personally, I’m one of the first to bash woke culture, it’s too aggressive and authoritarian; always shoving its agenda down our throats with poor dialogue and writing that often brings down the quality of the product whether you agree or disagree with its message but Chloe, Ryan, Kaz and the rest of the team have created a film that naturally represents equality by showing people for who they are and not for what an agenda demands them to be, by removing the use of woke dialogue which often relies (ironically) on attacking other social groups, it creates and portrays a more realistic social setting which does not feel forced, which I commend because this is how it should be done. Outside of this, however, the movie does suffer from its short runtime. It does handle its large ensemble cast well given this fact however it doesn’t leave much room for a more fleshed-out story which it honestly needed. Despite this though, it does raise interesting philosophical questions, offering more intriguing moral dilemmas and themes to the story which are often lacking in previous Marvel films. It also doesn’t shy away from themes that Marvel generally avoids, overall making it a more compelling film. The cast also does an incredible job and the action scenes are some of the best the franchise has ever offered. In my opinion, it’s a really good film and doesn’t deserve the hate it’s getting despite the story being a little clumsy at times.
